OUR STORY & PHILOSOPHY
Muddy Girl Studio is the ceramic studio of potter and teacher Claire Johnson.
Claire has worked in the ceramic industry for the past 21 years. After graduating from Chisholm Tafe with a Diploma of Ceramics she went on to become a facilitator of children’s clay activities for Clayplay Inc. In the past, Claire has taught throwing classes at Northcote Pottery Supplies. She has worked for commercial manufacturers such as Robert Gordon Australia and Clayworks as a technician and has undertaken freelance commissions from companies such as TXU and Heatmaster.
Claire currently works and teaches from her studio situated in an idyllic location at the foot of Mt Dandenong. Her aim is to create and share a love of handcrafted ceramics, vessels that are not only for everyday use but are also objects that can be cherished for a lifetime. Her works is predominately thrown on the potter's wheel from stoneware or porcelain clay and high fired to 1280 Celsius for strength and durability.
